eternity

This may seem like a strange subject for this web site. No. I cannot offer anything that will last for eternity. There is only one who can – Jesus Christ. Someday every person will face Him. The way that meeting turns out will be determined by what you do with Him now. There are many different opinions about Christ. None matter except one. His.

He said, ” I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
Quite simply, He is the only way to Heaven.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
You may have heard that verse before. It is probably the most famous verse in the Bible. It has been seen at countless sporting events and other venues. Have you ever really pondered it though? It promises everlasting life. The funny thing is that it does not attach any stipulations. You must only believe.

It is explained in more detail in the book of Romans:
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:10-13)

There is only one thing that separates us from the God that created us – Sin. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23) Even at our best effort of pleasing God we fall miserably short because of the sin that we have done. There is no set of scales that will balance our good and bad and come out in our favor.

The good news is what John 3:16 explains. We also find in the book of Romans – But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) God proves or commits His love to us through Jesus’ death on the cross. This one act provides a payment for our sin. This must be personally accepted as a gift from God with no other attempt to please Him. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23). But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. (Isaiah 64:6)

So what is the solution? I will refer you to a verse I referenced earlier – For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13) Call on Him in prayer and receive the gift that He offers.
